“Five Year Plan” Official Video
Last January, Callie and I decided not to spend our winter locked in New York, so we drove south down the East Coast, and across to California, where we rented houses with some of our favorite people in Palm Springs and San Diego. Then we drove back. It was the right thing to do, five stars, would buy again.
Happy 33 to my scarlet Queen,
One of my big projects this year has been converting our basement into a proper studio. I made a Before video, and while there is still plenty to be done, I wanted to show you what it looks like now. We’ve already had a few fall band rehearsals, and I’ve been working down here for the past few months, recording and playing. I still have a lot of instruments and gear to incorporate, and ergonomics to figure out, but it’s by far the best Studio I’ve ever had. Because it’s an old building with a history of flooding, I wanted to keep all of the wires off the ground, so everything is run on hooks on the ceiling, and all of my cables are color-coded. For anyone who’s ever tried to trace a cable in the snakepit of black wires, I think you will appreciate that. As of right now, I can record 10 tracks simultaneously, with five headphone feeds. Next step, recording an album down here.
Every time I see these things, my first reaction is that I get a little frustrated because I wish those numbers were higher. Then I remember that those are lots of strangers who listen to my music when they could listen to literally anything else, and it’s too much to comprehend. Thank you for listening. To any music.
Happy Halloween, Freaks
